D-face is the new video pixelation utility from IES that enables a SiteScape2 operator to quickly provide pixelation to any number of targets within a recording and to save the pixelated recording to SiteScape2’s CDRW.
The Data protection Act (DPA) requires public area CCTV operators to make available a copy of recorded footage of any individual requesting it. This means that anyone walking through a town center with a CCTV scheme has the right to demand a copy of his or her pictures from the scheme operator.
This is a harder task than it might at first seem, as any other individuals in the recording must have their faces obscured or ‘pixelated’ in order to preserve their privacy. Current practice usually dictates that the scheme operator has to manually find the footage, save it to VHS, send it to an external agency for obscuration, or acquire expensive equipment in order to achieve the same results in-house.
D-face is the total solution to all these problems, allowing you to take control of this process in-house and even to transform it into a profit center. D-face is also a valuable tool for use by the security services wishing to obscure, for instance, vehicle registration plates or views of secure sites.
Viewed from within the SiteScape2 programme, D-face allows a user to access any images saved in the Gallery. From there, any number of drag-and-drop zones can be created top mask faces, vehicle registration marks or any other subject. To obscure the face of someone walking through the recorded area, it is a simple task to select either a rectangle or oval shape, drag & drop it on to the target then re-size to fit.
D-face allows the user to move along frame-by-frame, dragging the pixelated shape to the new position in the new frame. In the final AVI move clip, the pixelation will automatically follow targets as the clip plays. This final clip can then be saved back to the gallery or to SiteScape2’s CDRW drive. For targets with a linear movement at a constant speed, it is possible to apply pixelation to the first & last frames only, and the software will take care of the rest.
D-face is available as an option a software utility, which can be added to new or existing SiteScape2 software.
